A Driver in the Delhi Police department is a government employee responsible for operating official police vehicles safely and efficiently. This role supports law enforcement operations by ensuring timely transportation of personnel, equipment, and materials across the city.
Key Responsibilities
Drive and operate official Delhi Police vehicles including jeeps, vans, buses, and other fleet vehicles
Transport police officers, senior officials, and personnel to various locations within and outside Delhi
Ensure the vehicle is clean, well-maintained, and roadworthy at all times
Carry out routine checks of the vehicle тАФ fuel, oil, tyres, brakes, and lights тАФ before every trip
Report any mechanical issues or accidents immediately to the concerned authority
Maintain a logbook of daily trips, mileage, fuel consumption, and vehicle condition
Follow all traffic rules and road safety regulations strictly
Assist in emergency duties during law enforcement operations when required
Remain available for duty round the clock, including night shifts and holidays if needed.
Required Skills
Strong knowledge of Delhi roads, routes, and landmarks
Ability to drive in heavy traffic, night conditions, and emergency situations
Basic vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting knowledge
Discipline, punctuality, and a sense of responsibility
Calm temperament and good presence of mind
Basic communication skills in Hindi/English
Working Conditions
Work location: Various police stations, headquarters, and operational zones across Delhi
Shifts: Rotational shifts including nights, weekends, and public holidays
Uniform: Official Delhi Police uniform may be required during duty
